About halfway through the hatching season for Four-toed Salamanders (Hemidactylium scutatum), with some embryos still showing minimal differentiation and others like this one just about ready to pop

Happy ! Did you know that our beloved (home to , amphibians, & more!) are not considered 'jurisdictional' wetlands under the Clean Water Act (2015)?

As a result, they can be at greater risk of being destroyed w/o facing legal repercussions

Unsure if it works everywhere, but when morels start popping up here, it's also a good indication that four-toed salamanders (Hemidactylium scutatum) are nesting

Took my 10 yo daughter to the ponds a little late this year, missed the attending females but we still found seven marbled salamander nests that hadn't been submerged...some absolutely ready to burst
