A huge problem for utilitarianism is that 'utility' whether defined as preference maximization or hedonism is incommensurable across moral subjects.

There are many reasons to reject utilitarianism.

In a nutshell, there are better ethical theories that unite our judgments about the nature of value, virtue, what the right thing to do is, what makes an action right, and what makes a character virtuous.
