I Loch Lomond & the Trossachs

Red squirrels are endangered, but are still found around Loch Lomond.
The red squirrel is an arboreal, primarily herbivorous rodent.

When there is a high risk of wildfires – like this weekend – our advice is that you shouldn’t have a campfire.

Fires can easily get out of control in these conditions, as recent wildfires have shown.

So be careful with cigarettes and refrain from having any kind of campfire.

I rediscovered this beautiful lochan in the Trossachs while out cycling earlier this week. I used to go fishing here with my dad many years, ago but it’s been more than 20 years since my last visit. Electric blue dragonflies, rising trout, and bog myrtle. ❤️

It always pays to go off the beaten path a bit and check out some smaller local attractions on vacation -- and these small towns are quirky enough to be their own tourist sites. Find out which are considered the best in the country.

Most people who visit the National Park respect the landscape, so it’s disappointing that in recent weeks our Ranger service have had to issue £200 penalties on two occasions for littering.

If there are no bins or bins are full, please take your rubbish home with you.

🧵Tomorrow is @‌uknationalparks ‘All Parks Volunteer Day’ and we’d love for you to get involved.

A ‘sound map’ for nature has been created for all the National Parks. Can you to help us populate our National Park’s map with the wonderful sounds you hear when visiting us?

We recently completed work around Inversnaid to remove rhododendron, an Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) that overwhelms our precious native forests.

Tackling INNS is crucial if our woodlands are to help address the climate & nature crises.
