Noticed this little surviving shaded branch of staghorn transplanted to Coral City Camera by Rescue a Reef in 2021 has been colonized by the non-native Ophiothela mirabilis brittlestar. I’ve only seen them on gorgonians previously. Coral seems mostly unbothered by the arrangement
Yes! New research in Frontiers about benefits of citizen science on #coralreefs and #community members. In the #citizenscience program Rescue a Reef - 70.5% of participants reported changes in perceptions and 60.1% changes in behavior.
