Two small footpaths included - Mortehoe 19 & Mortehoe 7.

1. Some serious stile action. 2. Ingenious use of old float for gate closing mechanism.

Today’s walk - From Fortescue Arms, North Devon.
Old railway cycle track. Mortehoe Bridleway 4. Barton Close (lane/fields) route with public access. Mortehoe Footpath 2. Along Beach Road. Eastacott Lane (track with public access). Part of Mortehoe Footpath 11 back to start.

Had planned for Dartmoor yesterday, but with all the rain and no boat to hand we decided to go somewhere a little drier (ish). Mortehoe to Lee Bay and back (rain later than the moor too). Nice but not Dartmoor. #northdevon #southwestcoastpath #nationaltrustsouthwest

Ilfracombe is said to be haunted by the ghost of one of the murderers of Thomas à Beckett, Sir Will de Tracey. He hid on Crookham Common between Mortehoe and Ilfracombe where his daughter fed him bits of food.
