How can we measure when graduates are mismatched to their occupation? Great #LEW2023 presentation describing how to measure this. Interesting findings were that this misallocation has increased through time, and is especially large and cyclical for commerce majors.

How does making benefits harder to get for immigrants influence long term outcomes? An important paper at #LEW2023 suggests that benefit restrictions can have long-term benefits. One key challenge is outward migration on unobsevables - did those who would be more reliant leave?

Does an extra year of compulsory schooling improve short-term outcomes for kids? In this #LEW2023 presentation we find that an additional year of compulsory schooling leads to a lower prob of children going into child protection, and lower emergency room visits for thos kids.

#LEW2023 Did reforms to benefit payments to parents hurt sole parents, or boost their labour supply involvement. In a fascinating presentation we are informed that 1/3 of parents did boost their earnings after losing access to these payments, while 2/3 end up strictly worse off.

#LEW2023 Is the penalty for entering in a weak labour market larger or smaller in middle inc countries? Presentation finds that overall penalty is lower, due to agriculture picking up excess workers. However, this also generates larger scars for those with high education.

Another great #LEW2023 talk. How does a peer support intervention on mothers with depression influence child outcomes? Takeaway: child anxiety is lower at 6, but isn't related to changes in parental investment (due to beliefs or preferences). What is behind this direct effect?

Does intra-household bargaining influence the propensity for children to go on to higher education? Looking at Indonesian data our #LEW2023 presenter finds that this is the case. Fascinating result, and really interesting insights to the margins where this bargaining matters.
