I love that Zavok is genuinely such a staple character for the sonic brand, whether people want him to be or not. This is like if Mario decided they only liked one of the Koopalings.

Why do people complain about the Koopalings being in Mario games? I actually prefer that they're in them. Also anytime Nintendo tries to replace them with something else it's always far worse like those ugly rabbit things in Odyssey or Bowser jr on repeat in Wonder.

I felt like making headcanons again and went for the Koopalings.

The Koopalings were never the problem people just complain about anything and act like 2D Mario boss fights were any different without them. (put them in a 3D game and watch them strive)

The Koopalings being bosses in every NSMB was never the issue, those fights were cool. The issue was how every mini-boss was either them, Reznor, or Boom Boom, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Had we gotten fresh and original minibosses the Koopalings wouldn't be hated today.
