Need some help, feeling a bit fucking lost rn. Long story short our union is looking to split an EBA up, so we can better negotiate for our members. We don’t want to be fuckin splitters, or breakers of solidarity, however the position from members is that they expect better. 🧵 1

There is ever growing tension amongst the wider workforce due to favouritism of specific sections of the non trade workforce, and non trade workers have always held the power to bend the company to its whim, as they have the majority of vnumbers in any EBA vote. 9

There are a handful of workers where they have negotiated EBAs that attempt to reverse the inequity of workers, specific examples exist where there is strong market demand and low supply, coupled with good rank and file activism. 6

This disunity has been present for a long time, and the elephant in any bargain. I don’t believe it’s a bad thing that these workers hold this power, I’m glad they hold the hot iron, we just want a better deal for trade staff! 10

It feels wrong to possibly step away from the EBA, and bargaining table, breaking bonds of solidarity for a better deal. It’s what we have collectively decided as union members however, and have support from the branch to do it. 11

Our eba is structured where trade employees are massively outnumbered by other professions and trades workers are represented by 4 separate unions. Trade employees are roughly 1/10th of the total workforce. We can make gains for our members in some specific sections of the EBA 2
