I just got this near mint 1973 beauty. A Heathkit GC-1005 with lovely orange Panaplex (like flat nixies) digits. The PCB with oldskool 10% carbon resistors isn't bad and a white/gold IC aren't either. I think I'll have it displaying the time at my lab bench.

I wouldn't recommend using the term 'cantenna' for this, old geezers like me see that word and think 'dummy load' because that was also the name of the Heathkit dummy load which was their best selling device.

there's this feeling, such a long way from my Heathkit DX-60 and a knife switch, yet my emotion is the same. As a novice, we'd ring each other's phone after logging any DXCC counter back in 1979. Today, feels like a day to ring phones again strong

Massimo Some of the best experiences I had as a kid was building kits. Model rockets. Heathkit ham radios. And chemistry kits with included experiments. So glad I had those experiences. Mind you, I never had anything radioactive that I know of :)
