The bird-themed, municipal artwork in Morecambe is fantastic. Puffins and cormorants on bollards; gannet, auk and gull statues; flocks of golden plover, dunlin, curlew and godwits; bird jokes and witticisms; and an entire pavement of bird quotations and poetry. It's brilliant!

Visited WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre today and its stunning! The wooded landscape so close to an estuary made for a really lovely environment. Highlights were first pectoral sandpiper of the year and seeing black-tailed godwits so close to the hide! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Godwits are NOT BORN WITH a route & a timetable.
Very happy with online publication in Current Biology of our young translocation paper: authors.elsevier.com/a/1hA943QW8S2Q…

While all the rice fields are bone dry, its good to see El Capitan and other lagunes of Brazo del Este flooded. 12 Black-tailed Godwits incl a Dutch colour-ringed bird frantically foraging among the Avocets and Black-winged Stilts. Still ... strikingly low nrs of many species.

Only popped to Alkborough Flats for a couple of hours which ended up being 4! Best views I've had of a Cuckoo. Great view of a Glossy Ibis for about 10mins. Plus 2 Spoonies, Greenshank, Bittern booming & flyby. Flock of Black-T Godwits in the shimmering heat. Lincsbirding

Day 125: Early morning visit to Cley where the pools seem to be dominated by breeding Avocets which are very aggressive and kept the Black-tailed Godwits in the air. Pochard close to hide and a flyover by a Spoonbill were some of the highlights.
