This wk on BBCLR: Pop stars talking to Make A Difference winners. Soullessly edited. Stilted, scripted links, 1 hr of 1 artist’s songs, NO local station IDs. 9am! Loved local voices will be in the building! Yet again foisted upon teams by people who simply DON’T UNDERSTAND RADIO

BBC leadership are OBSESSED w streaming platforms. Hence spin-off radio services. Trouble is, commercial sector do this way BETTER so why try to compete? Just as “all the music you love” was always silly. BBCLR was never going to win on music. Why not focus on what they DONT do?!

This is great- part of the valuable role BBCLR plays in our communities. We’re ALL still dedicated to doing it to the best of our abilities. But I’d respectfully suggest denying the diminishing of services that has undeniably happened won’t serve to help us carry on long term

BBC Local Radio will “shrink & die” says one of my old bosses.

It’s such a shame. I did work experience when I was 14 and was part of a teen-team at 16 every Sunday afternoon.

That wouldn’t happen now, and won’t happen in the future either.

Great blog post as usual - and buried within it the obvious idea that dare not speak its name - the R5L/BBCLR hybrid which would allow the locals to concentrate their firepower at breakfast & drive, and give 5L FM across the country.

Jason is hands down one of the most talent presenters on BBCLR. He made a London based show, broadcasting around England, feel as warm and intimate as our local stations. It’s a gift few have and I’ve loved working ( kind of ) alongside him.

So tonight rather than local radio hero Allan beswick official account. BBC Manchester talking to locals about Bobby Charlton,there is Late Night Jo from London.A perfect example of why the changes to BBCLR with national shows on local radio stations is utterly ridiculous & contrary to the Charter
