Proud to have known and visited Newark Air Museum all my life. Here I am with my Dad and #VZ608 around 1979 ❤️ 10 years and many visits later we were members and volunteers #NAMMusMemories
During yesterday's #Draken picture search of the #DTEParchive Howard Heeley came up with a couple of other pictures - our unique #Meteor FR.9 VTOL test-bed aircraft #VZ608 in the #NAMworkshop & a #NorthfieldSite view!

Today's visit by Rolls-Royce students from Derby University were allowed cockpit viewings on our ex R-R VTOL test-bed aircraft #VZ608 in #NAMHangar2 & they also witnessed some bungee changes underway on the Dominie #XS726 crew door!

Both #DTEParchive & that same photo opportunity! 😂😇
Newark Air Museum Classic Warbirds Not got any pictures of #VZ608 to hand, will a #Trent Turboprop version and another of #WA902 do in the meantime? 🙂 #Meteor #NottsAviation #Aviation #avgeek #Hucknall
Newark Air Museum Hucknall Flight Test Museum My RT prompted the grey cells to have a quick look into the #DTEParchive & locate this #VZ608 photo from the very early 1980s - first #NAMrestoration by some Rolls-Royce employees who volunteered Newark Air Museum
Plus another 'roll-out' photo in front of #NAMHangar1

Newark Air Museum My late next-door (but 1) neighbour made fairings and scoop for the in-flight air intake on VZ608 - I've probably bored everybody with that fact a million times! He was another legend who loved his visit & seeing the aircraft again.
Lest We Forget ❤ xx
Newark Air Museum A quick peek in Air Britan's 'RAF Aircraft SA100-VZ999' shows that Meteor VZ608 was in a batch of 35 serials all allocated to FR.9 variants. Vz728 was in a batch of four serials allotted to trials and prototype aircraft.
Richard W - Is Vaxxed & Boosted. Yay! LarsB The Meteor picture is quite interesting as it shows the F.8 that we acquired to replace the FR.9 #VZ608 VTOL test-bed airframe on the R-R Hucknall fire dump!
