the UC Davis incident of 2011 is a wild barometer for how dramatically we’ve culturally accepted increased militarization in such a short time period. cops pepper sprayed peaceful protesters at point blank range and people were rightfully OUTRAGED…yet seems mild compared to now

This is so incredibly wild to watch if you remember the UC Davis pepper spray incident in 2011. That was a HUGE story—the cops' names weren't even released until a 2014 court order, and UC Davis spent 175K to scrub the pictures from the internet. But TEAR GAS?!

If you think anything will happen to the cops abusing anti-genocide student protestors, just remember that the cop in this 2011 picture pepper spraying peaceful UC Davis students got awarded $38k because he was so upset by people rightfully pointing out he was an abusive asshole.
