When I went to Southwold a few days ago, I wasn't expecting to buy an Indonesian hat maker's block - yet here we are. In mahogany, huge, heavy & sculptural, it's very Modigliani. And, as my sister-in-law would say, it has definite 'Shoreditch Wanker' vibes about it. Oh well.

Weekend in Suffolk. Southwold cheered up today, Oulton Broad and Carlton Reserve full of birds in the reed beds. Lovely county

A 17th c box tomb with sandstone top in the yard of St Edmund's in Southwold. The curvature in the front is the result of the excise men, or indeed any Tom, Dick or Harry, rasping their cutlasses on this convenient stone just outside the porch....noise enough to wake the dead?
