Excellent Conference today exploring #endometriosis and 'how we need to disrupt the norm if we're going to have progress' Dr. Annalise Weckesser
#ReframingEndo
Also reframing how conferences are held, a hybrid of in person and online and not a PowerPoint insight!
What a treat to hang out with these #endometriosis researchers Freie Universität UNIVERSITÄT LEIPZIG & artists in #Berlin . Plotting how to join our forces INCLUDE+ & collaborate on future projects (also chatting how much we loved Social SciencEs Endometriosis Network(FKA EndoSRN) #ReframingEndo , offline & online)
Back in #Berlin after what feels like the most important conference in my life (personally & professionally) #ReframingEndo Social SciencEs Endometriosis Network(FKA EndoSRN). I'm so grateful to get to know so many #endometriosis warriors & especially the neurodivergent ones - my body & my brain felt weirdly at ease.
Last week we attended the #ReframingEndo conference, which brought together #social #scientists , #biomedical #researchers and #third #sector representatives to discuss how #patient #care can be improved by understanding the experiences of those with #endometriosis 1/n
“The way we conceptualise and categorise the condition shapes the way we treat the condition” - Dr.Annalise Weckesser
Setting the tone for Day 2 #endometriosis #ReframingEndo
Brilliant insight into the importance of every voice getting heard, striving to improve patient care
the #ReframingEndo conference has been a fantastic example of how to effectively do a hybrid conference
Day 2 of the #ReframingEndo conference starting off with discussion around Reframing Social & Biomedical Divides, and hearing about collaborations to improve diagnosis, care and support.
Fourth panel #ReframingEndo : Future Endometriosis Framings
On ignorance studies & the need to reframe singular & neat understandings.
Hugh Taylor, @Nicky_Hudson, Professor Kate Seear (author of The Makings of a Modern Epidemic), Krina Zondervan and Stacey Missmer (@WorldEndoSoc).
Looking forward to Reframing #Endometriosis ✊🏻✊🏾✊🏿 Power, Politics and Potential Futures

Sharon Dixon, @Maria_Temmes, Andrew Horne, Lone Hummelshoj (@endometriosis) and @alillyf.
Final panel #ReframingEndo : Speaking Differently About Endometriosis
On language, metaphors & imagery (the barbed wire).

Slept for 16h straight, still processing all of the awesomeness I experienced Social SciencEs Endometriosis Network(FKA EndoSRN) #ReframingEndo , followed by an average #ravetheplanet experience. My #adhd brain is trying to figure out my to do list ( it's not easy).
Meeting with endo researchers from #Germany today, yay
This from Dr Hugh Taylor:
#Menstrual pain is one of the only types of pain seen as 'normal' or expected. If someone experienced any other type of pain, we'd look into it straight away.
Nail. Head. Hit. 🙌🏽

My newest blog with the Women's Health Research Cluster is out now! I explore personal reflections on #endometriosis and shifting the dial towards #holistic care! Inspired by work from my PhD and reflections from the Social SciencEs Endometriosis Network(FKA EndoSRN) #Reframingendo conference earlier this year, check it out ⬇️
Describing pain in a different language can reduce the impact of your pain - saying I'm in pain in Spanish can come across as it hurts - which doesn't come anywhere close to being an effective descriptor Stella Bullo #reframingendo
