#BlackBirdersWeek Day 2: #PostABird I’m sharing the first & most recent birds I’ve held. Can you ID these backyard species? If you tried, you’re a birder! Please join me, and share some bird content(fun facts, photos, songs, stories etc.) #nature #birds #RepresentationMatters
I'll kick off my #PostABird with my favourite bird; the Lilac Breasted Roller. A colourful flier with around 8 colours! Some say it could've been #Botswana 's national bird had the Kori Bustard not been picked.

A Pair of Sandhill Cranes

For my last #PostABird of this evening, I wanted to post maybe my favorite bird species.
Sandhills spend most of their lives in freshwater wetlands, including marshes and wet grasslands

This cutie is a juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk I encountered at one of the urban parks I survey. I was psyched to see one in such a heavily urbanized area like downtown LA. Just a reminder that you can find really cool birds even outside of natural areas! #PostABird #BlackAFinSTEM
This lil guy right here is a greater scuap I was helping to rehabilitate during my internship. My facial expression may not show it, but I was feeling nothing but joy being able to work closely with wildlife #BlackBirdersWeek #PostABird
Happy Day 2 of #BlackBirdersWeek ! #postabird I'm so happy to see others posting multiple birds because I can't pick just one! I'm going to start with my work in Baltimore. Baltimore’s birds are the reason I ended up back to grad school to get my PhD.
So glad to support this initiative! *I am not a birdwatcher, but I love the outdoors! #PostABird #BlackBirdersWeek #BlackInNature
Albatrosses are threatened by fishing activity as they interact with fishing gear worldwide, including Namibian waters birdlife.org/news/tag/albat….

Black-browed albatross, my favorite Albatross
I don't have any interesting Peregrine Falcon facts other than they are fucking awesome, but please add any interesting facts you might have #BlackAFinSTEM #PostABird
Today is Day 2 of #BlackBirdersWeek where y’all #PostABird to the TL to spread some avian love!
Since my skills birding skills are introductory here is a picture of me and Rowl. We were born on the same day three hours away from each other.
This year we both turned 31

Continuing #PostABird Day with a few lifers I’ve been able to capture on camera! Three white terns and one red-tailed tropic bird at Palmyra Atoll. My first California condor at the Grand Canyon (really pushed my zoom to the max)

Here is one of my favorite birds and I’ll be researching it for my PhD- the Puerto Rican Tody, aka “San Pedrito.” It constructs nest burrows and has been observed to exhibit cooperative breeding, which is when an individual helps care for young that’s not their own! #PostABird
Although I work with lizards, birds have a special part in my heart. These are few of the birds that I have seen in my beautiful country - Colombia #PostABird #BlackBirdersWeek
Today is Day 2 of #BlackBirdersWeek ! Let’s show some love for the little dinosaurs with a #PostABird challenge! Can you guess what this bird is? Hint: The species distribution included Central/South America and the Caribbean. Photo was taken in Belize.
For day 2 of #BlackBirdersWeek here are some birds from the Galápagos #PostABird
Top left: Blue-Footed Booby
Top right: Magnificent Frigatebird
Bottom: Waved Albatross-its wings are so big I couldn’t even fit them in this pic (up to 8ft)! This species is critically endangered.
For decades, southern towns prohibited Black People from public beaches. In the north, residents-only rules and parking fees had the same effect. My #PostABird Whimbrel is for all the Black Kids who didn't become amazing shorebird scientists because they couldn't go to the beach.
I started birding two years ago and can't believe how much I have grown because of it. Learning about and observing birds fills me with so much joy. Sharing my passion with others is what birding is all about. #BlackBirdersWeek #BirdingWhileBlack #BlackWomenWhoBird #PostABird
