1/14 Proud to share my main PhD project, where we used deep learning to learn cellular morphology in an EM volume of #Platynereis . A great collaboration with Johannes, Virginie Uhlmann and Arendt Lab!

Warning: a thread with a lot of pretty pictures!
In this new study, we aimed to determine the origin(s), plasticity and fate of the cells participating in #Platynereis blastema formation, tracking proliferative cells as well as gut cells. (2/11)

#Platynereis #chaetae for #PolychaeteDay . #EM micrograph shows 2 chaetae, with a joint on the right. 3D reconstruction shows all chaetae in the 3-day-old larva. For more info see suppl. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… catmaid.jekelylab.ex.ac.uk/11/links/chaet…

Welcome Loeiza, new technician in the lab Institut Jacques Monod Université Paris Cité #regeneration #platynereis
Our first bioRxiv paper is online ! Have a look to our new story on Platynereis posterior regeneration. Congrats to all StemDevEvo members especially Anabelle Planques

Do you have a feeling you are not getting all you can out of your EM data? Is more awesome biology lurking in there? The amazing Valentyna Zinchenko 🇺🇦 is here to help! Together with Virginie Uhlmann and Arendt Lab , we already found things we didn't expect in the Platynereis, what's next?
We packed up our Flamingo #2 #lightsheet microscope Harvard University in Cambridge yesterday morning and imaged a fixed and stained Platynereis dumerilii in the Özpolat B. Duygu Özpolat, Ph.D. lab Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole in the afternoon.
I just made an awesome screenshot using PlatyBrowser. See #Platynereis eyes, neurons, muscles, and inner and outer cilia. Colourful segmentation on top :)

Federico Scaramuzza (Federico Scaramuzza) from Università di Padova joined the lab of Kristin Tessmar at Max Perutz Labs Vienna to investigate the molecular mechanisms of circa-lunar rhythmicity in marine animals reproduction using the nereid Platynereis dumerilii as a model.
Eve Gazave from StemDevEvo lab combined Nanopore and Illumina libraries to constitute a confident reference transcriptome for posterior regeneration in Platynereis. Notch signaling players seem to orchestrate such a complex process. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 #EED2022 #EEDNapoli
We are so excited about our community's first meeting, spanning labs across many countries and continents! We will enjoy Platynereis talks one after the other for 3 days. You don't get that very often! We hope this is the first of many meetings to come. #Platynereis
A beautiful talk about cell lineage tracing and regeneration in Platynereis by B. Duygu Özpolat, Ph.D.. #AQMHD Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL)
Just came back from a nice trip to MPI-CBG Dresden with Rabea Klingberg & Mette H-Thorsager - and brought with us Platynereis dumerilii to finally start our culture Animal Evolution Biodiversity!!! 😁👍
