As a part of the #NFR_LOST project, we’re repeating a historic longline survey conducted in the Osterfjord fjord system to see how the bentic fish community has changed over time. One of the species caught was the spiny dogfish, the primary species being tracked in this project!

A few days ago Lotte Dahlmo was out trying to capture spiny dogfish with a photographer who’s making a film for the #NFR_LOST project. It started out slow, but as they found the right spot, the dogfish were biting as soon as the bait hit the bottom🦈 (there’ll be better clips!)

Spent the two last days out on the fjords downloading data from numerous acoustic receivers! Been waiting for this day since we tagged the first spiny dogfish in late October 2022. Eager to explore the data for my first PhD chapter!! #NFR_LOST Bergen Telemetry Network

Our annual meeting for the #NFR_LOST project is happening today. Knut Wiik Vollset and Robert Lennox started the day with giving an overview of the project and it’s progress.

Filmed this right before we took a ctd profile from surface to fjord bottom ~ 500 meters. After manually lowering the ctd down for 15 min, it turned out that the winch wouldn’t work and we had to pull it up ourselves… Luckily a beautiful day with almost no waves! #NFR_LOST

Very happy that our > 80 acoustically tagged #spinydogfish are tagged with OPs tags. Who knows - maybe some will leave the Norwegian fjords and explore coastal areas in other countries with compatible receivers? 🦈 #NFR_LOST #trackingnotslacking Bergen Telemetry Network
