The goal is to remove you, sever you, and replace you.
Yeah that worked so well for rings of power. Why is it always 'I love LotR but it needs fixing, updating and my ideas to make it better' Those writers should stop pretending they actually like his work whilst trying to supplant it and use it as a springboard for their own career.
