Day 7 of : A unique type! This ancient bust of Hadrian, unknown until its discovery in 1995, displays Antinous, rather than a traditional Gorgoneion, at the centre of his cuirass. Bizarrely Marguerite Yourcenar wrote of Antinous’ ‘Medusa-like curls’ in 1951! 🌈
