Fire Plays An Important Part In The Sequoia Trees Overall Evolutionary History. They Can Grow Bark Up To 3 Feet Thick To Protect Themselves.
But When Fires Such As The #KNPComplexFire Become Too Large And Too Frequent, The 3000 Year Old Treasures Might Not Stand A Chance.

Giant Forest, August 2015. Giant Forest has had several decades of prescribed fire and fire crews are taking extra precautions to protect these ancient trees as the #KNPComplexFire approaches the grove. If weather conditions are not too extreme, this fire may benefit the forest.
