In his lifetime he painted some of the most celebrated works in the history of British art, while keeping his Cockney accent his whole life. 🎨

'Slave Ship' is one of the most celebrated works by #JMWTurner , born #onthisday in 1775. Painted in 1840, it's a striking example of the artist's fascination with violence, both human and elemental.

Today happens to be 249th birth anniversary of the master British painter #JMWTurner who among many other themes was famous for spectacular maritime paintings. This is my tribute to him.
