Aug 5: Pub burns down with access road blocked to fire engines
Aug 6: Council say only some of first floor needs pulling down for safety
Aug 7: Pub completely flattened by digger hired by the Taylors BEFORE the fire
Interesting to see if this longcase clock from the destroyed #CrookedHouse pub, allegedly among the antiques removed by the new owner prior to its arson and illegal demolition, turns up in the trade.
The sad truth is that if you don’t use your pubs and they become unviable, companies like Marstons will sell them. They are property companies by enlarge and have little time for sentiment. It’s soo late to protest once they’re gone, use them now. #CrookedHouse What a sad loss.

All this talk of the #CrookedHouse reminds me of the crookedest church in Britain, Cwmyoy in Monmouthshire, whose tower leans more than the one in Pisa. It was built on the scree slope caused by an ancient landslip, and has been repeatedly propped up over the centuries
