Companies are defaulting to flat rate car allowances but they shouldn’t be.

That’s where FAVR comes in. FAVR is a program that takes geography into account. When you build your FAVR program, you build your fixed and variable rates based on local costs.

When you have a lot of employees driving in different geographies, the question becomes how to reimburse them for business driving.

That means drivers in California and Texas each get their own ideal rates, and everyone gets paid fairly, ensuring their costs are covered.

Legitimate business driving expenses are eligible for tax-free reimbursements, but different locations have different expenses.

Driving costs in Texas, for example, tend to be a lot lower than in California. But if you have a flat rate car allowance, everyone is getting the same sum, meaning no one is getting a fair deal.
