I have some turnip labels from Quesnel. My father-in-law (now 97 years old!) says although he was a turnip farmer in the 1950s, never put these on any bags. He sold the turnips to the co-op then in turn the co-op sent them to the Okanagan. ben bradley

One of my predecessors, the late Emery Barnes, was the first Black person to serve as Speaker of any Canadian legislature. He served as Speaker from 1994 to 1996. I am grateful for his contributions to our province and legislature.

in 1861, Charles Wallace married Catherine (Kate) Work at St. Johns Church. That same year, the couple moved to a small cottage recently built at Point Ellice on land sold to them for $100.00 by Catherine’s father, John Work.

History contain lots of legendary names. George Washington, Genghis Khan, Santa Claus. However, you might be surprised to find out that some of the people that grace your textbooks aren’t real people.

A few months ago Mike McDonald, Pete Fry, and I started having regular meetings with a man named Bill Challenger, with the goal of bringing a piece of out of storage and put on permanent display. Lots more work to do but today is a big day. ❤️vancouverisawesome.com/local-news/the…
