Every time I work with this student he inspires me! From his creativity to his saying of “I’m going to try again”! I love it! I allow him to set up his targets to practice throwing & his own course to practice balancing. He’s so motivated and improving so much! #APE #AdaptedPE

#AdaptedPE 👩‍🎓 was offered to try a badminton racket after she crushed it using a foam racket. While she was nervous reminding her that one of our expectations, that we go over each lesson, is “Be Brave”, she agreed to try & she owned it! Declaring “I’m just good at tennis.”

During our class vs class ⚾️ game we determined the type of hit based on a high tech option using switches where Ss were an umpire and outfielder making the calls, or low tech DIY option using a 🎲 where a S hits it off the tee.

Created a more narrow ramp by using foam noodles taped to Gopher bowling ramp. Will be using with a student in a wheelchair today. Luke Skywalker would be proud. 😁

Used a tether as a guided throwing and catching ⚾️ station. I added Velcro to a wiffle ball and hung a Velcro glove. Ss could do this independently with a partner back and forth or with assistance from an adult.

Working w/ an #AdaptedPE 🧑‍🎓 in the gym w/ the whole self-contained class. The focus has been working on fleeing & chasing w/ peers along w/ engaging w/ others to join. Break through today when the Gen Ed🧑‍🎓 helped the APE 🧑‍🎓 secure the noodle for tagging before fleeing.

Wish I could show the kids exercising but the takeaway was this… internet was down at this NYC school yesterday but Exercise Buddy still works off WiFi. MOST important, the students with #autism routine was NOT! They made the exercise connection! #adaptedpe Exercise Connection
