Today, 3 learners catered for 80 people at YMCA England & Wales for their monthly community meal in collaboration with Marketing Derby #bondholders Vibrant Accountancy . Cooking the 2 course meal required learners to practise a plethora of skills for work readiness

T2 learners on work placement at ⁦Cosy Direct⁩ were invited to join the staff Christmas fuddle and festivities yesterday🎄Being part of the team and working hard are definitely things to celebrate! #send #employmentforall #inclusion

T2 learner Bethany was volunteering at ⁦Derbyshire CC⁩ Elvaston Castle to make hurdles for the nature reserve. She learned to weave lengths of willow between fixed posts to create the hurdles. These will guide visitors along the paths #sendcollege

Our first week back has been a mix of nerves & excitement as we began packing & preparing for our move to Friar Gate Studios. This is a perfect opportunity for learners & staff to practise using self-regulation strategies to cope with change in a real life situation 🧘‍♀️

We’ve been on a roll this week with lots of practical tasks ready for the big move! Working alongside others makes the job more enjoyable & fun 😄 Teamwork makes the dream work!

T2 leaner Bethany was excited to show us round Rumbletums where she is involved in their Catering Training Project. It was great for them to share some of their experiences and advice, this helps us with our preparation of opening our own Training Cafe at Friar Gate Studios☕️

Thanks to the great training provided by Compass, Maddie developed her cleaning & catering skills in one canteen at ⁦Rolls-Royce⁩ Now she is transferring them to their new site 🤩

To mark National Supported Internships Day, we held the Derby Supported Internship Forum in our new home. Delegates were treated to a super lunch from our catering and hospitality learners☺️

In honour of World Health Day, learners & staff took to the Peak District to breathe in fresh air, navigate through fields and over stiles & top up their vitamin D ☀️🍃

🌱Learners have been potting on basil, coriander, rocket & lettuce which will soon be ready to sell as part of our enterprise. Tanveer adjusted his tray height by placing a crate underneath; developing confidence at college has improved his posture, making him stand taller!
