Looking at bioinformaticians’ profiles these days, you'd think everyone has decades of experience in cutting-edge single-cell and AI-driven bioinformatics. But something’s missing… 👇

❗BIG SURVEY: Research & teaching pressure + Harsh criticism + Unreasonable expectations 🟰 PhD students with anxiety and depression. It is a VERY important study. Because it indirectly shows the role of mentorship. [STUDY: Self-selecting survey, to which 2,161 graduate

Editing 14 genes is no small feat, but I am not seeing enough evidence that "it is a dire wolf". Our community needs to communicate better to the public, now mor than ever, and imo that includes not exaggerating what we can deliver.

Yes. Writing is not a second thing that happens after thinking. The act of writing is an act of thinking. Writing *is* thinking. Students, academics, and anyone else who outsources their writing to LLMs will find their screens full of words and their minds emptied of thought.

According to this #JournalSpectrum study, a western diet alone can increase the presence of antibiotic resistance genes within the gut microbiome. Such insights could someday inform personalized antibiotic regimens based on an individual’s gut resistome. asm.social/2x2
