A review of thousands of studies by The Royal Society finds public health measures such as social distancing & masks unequivocally reduce the spread of COVID infections. Notably, non-pharmaceutical interventions are most effective when used in combination. theguardian.com/world/2023/aug…
Here's a nice chart from the The Royal Society report on COVID showing what strategies work best for communicating public health measures effectively. It's clear one of the biggest problems was low trust in government (sadly well earned). Another key problem was mixed messaging.
