Time to announce I will start my own lab at Fudan University in Shanghai. Today is my last day at @MRC_LMB, beyond grateful to my mentors and colleagues helped me along the way, I will soon be recruiting postdocs so if you are interested in mitochondria, get in touch! #newPI

I initially found and solved the structures of TMEM106B type 1 filaments together with LNT tau filaments from an individual diagnosed as PSP. The buried terminal reminded us it would not be tau, then the story started…🧐

Looking forward to presenting our work to mixed audiences, i.e., scientists, people living with dementia, health care staffs, policy makers etc. at #WeAreNeuronet. Many thanks to Chris Bintener for the invitation and helps!

Pleasant to see our +APN-1607 PHF map & model highlighted by #PDB50structures. It is really a great encouragement for us to work harder on tau PET ligands with cryo-EM together with other techniques. Many thanks to Michel Goedert and Sjors Scheres for supports!

Happy to share the first publication from our group 🥳 We used cryo-EM to determine the structure of TDP-43 filaments from individuals who had ALS with FTD. Full article online nature 👉 nature.com/articles/s4158… & thread below 👇

Looking forward to speaking with our collaborator Abhay Kotecha and colleague Sofia Lövestam. We will introduce how we use #cryoEM to improve our understanding in neurodegenerative diseases.
