I finally finished this book today. I liked some chapters more than others, but it was thought-provoking & well-written. Having reciprocity & gratitude for our natural world is something that’s long overdue. #shelfie instagram.com/p/CbX6VBYJyWF/…

In case you just needed to feel a little bit older today, my son just referred to the SNES as the ā€œSuper Nostalgic Entertainment Systemā€. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜Š

Taking a picture of all the books read over the summer makes it look more numerous & dramatic. Also, the dog had permission to stay because he’s cute, but today we learned that we don’t lick books.

World Cup soccer means my door decoration has changed from September. I’m sorry to see ā€œHamiltonā€ go, but so proud of the students who designed and put up my new door! instagram.com/p/ClehBMCyPQf/…

Extraversion is not a prerequisite for leadership. It doesn't matter how outgoing people are. What counts is how well they communicate and how committed they are to serving. The people to promote are the ones with the skill—and the will—to elevate the group above themselves.

In times of tragedy, don't mistake inaction for apathy. It's often the result of empathy. Empathic distress is feeling helpless in the face of suffering. It drains us until we're numb. You never know whose pain others are carrying. They may need compassion more than you

I used to read every day, but now I’m more of a ā€œbingeā€ reader. It’s good to have reminders that there’s no one right way to read.

ā¤ļø When #students dysregulate and exhibit unexpected behaviors, they are thinking with the emotional part of their brain at that moment. This is not a teachable moment. It is a time to connect, not correct. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL #TeacherTwitter

The door falling off the plane is scary, but this recounting of the Portland science teacher who found the door in his yard and how he turned it into a Monday morning lesson is delightful. oregonlive.com/portland/2024/…

šŸ“š Steps to mastery of a skill: 1. acquisition (I did it once) 2. fluency (I can do it consistently) 3. maintenance (I can keep doing it) 4. transfer (I can use it in new ways) (Hanson, et al., 1978) and still true. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL #SBLchat #TG2Chat

🌟 #Inclusion benefits everyone in the class because it elevates the quality of instruction. It can take creativity; but the payoff is everything. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Educators #UDL

From personal experience, Greene’s strategies work for typical class conflict as well. It’s how our class solved the great Gaga ball debate of 2021. 😊 It’s another example of how a change in practice for those who need it can actually work for everyone.

Today is #WorldAutismAwarenessDay. No one ever explained the difference between awareness and acceptance better than this 14-year-old in Australia. Please read my in-depth history of autism and neurodiversity, NeuroTribes, and books by great autistic authors like Eric Michael Garcia.

ā¤ļø Students aren't manipulating adults with challenging behaviors. They are expressing, consciously or unconsciously, their unmet needs. Our job is to help #students learn to have those needs met in better ways. Empathy and compassion are the key. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders
