Operators can blend products such as propane or hydrogen into systems at unknown rates. In Dec. 2022, CenterPoint Energy blended propane into its Southern Indiana gas distribution system incorrectly causing hundreds of carbon monoxide events that sent 4 people to the hospital.

To prevent incidents such as this, we believe Congress should require operators to report to PHMSA blended, non-predominant products that at any point in time exceed 3% by volume. #energytwitter, #naturalgas, #pstrust, #pipelines
