#eDebate #POMS2023 I’d say one major advantage generative AI can offer is also in assembling datasets (resolving naming inconsistencies in company names for example). We can also augment data collection - synthetic datasets or synthetic subjects recruited through gen AI

Quick last questions for our panelists - what is your personal stance? Do you think the benefits of #GenerativeAI outweigh its risks in #teaching and #research in #bschools, especially #operations #management? Anjana Susarla Emre M Demirezen Kaushik Dutta Tinglong Dai Jay Swaminathan, Ph.D.

#POMS2023 #edebate I will also take this opportunity to consider submitting your research at the Special Issue of INFORMS Journal on Computing Responsible AI and Data Science for Social Good, that I am editing. pubsonline.informs.org/page/ijoc/call…

Kaushik Dutta It all depends on how we utilize Gen-AI. A search engine is a tool, and benefit/cost depends on how you use it and your purpose. Similarly, it will depend on what our objective is when we use Gen-AI. It is great as an aid, but we cannot solely rely on it. #POMS2023 #edebate

Thanks to all the panelists for their eye opening insights! #GenerativeAI is the #wildwest with lost of opportunities, but also pitfalls Thanks #POMS2023 for the forum to discuss this. Emre M Demirezen Anjana Susarla Tinglong Dai Jay Swaminathan, Ph.D. Kaushik Dutta POMS_EdebatePanelist

Sunil Wattal Anjana Susarla Kaushik Dutta Tinglong Dai Jay Swaminathan, Ph.D. Potential benefits greatly outweigh the risks. However, we will have to manage the transition of Gen-AI into teaching and research well. As the capabilities of Gen-AI is still improving, we will have to first use it as an aid rather than solely rely on it. #POMS2023 #edebate

Chris Tang: It is worth it. Like Internet, Social media. The genie is out of the bottle. Use it, but be safe. #edebate #poms2023

#POMS2023 #edebate - a fundamental issue with #GenerativeAI tools like #ChatGPT at this point of time is a lack of complete clarity about what it is trained and how it generates results. More refinement is needed before it can be adopted in #research

#POMS2023 #edebate - #GenerativeAI could be quite useful in teaching I believe. Particularly for those new topics where one might have limited knowledge, this could be tool that accelerate the learning process. However, one should always cross check the validity. Thoughts?
