A study by SAAK (Sarvatrika Arogya Andolan Karnataka) collected 116 case stories in 8 districts of Karnataka presents whether state-led insurances like AB-ArK (Ayushman Bharat) are reducing people's out-of pocket expenses.

- Only for 5 out of 102 (4.9%) had treatment free of cost and 97/102 incurred high OOPE. - People on average are spending almost similar (and sometimes more) amount out-of pocket when they have or have not utilised insurance - Insurance IS NOT reducing the OOP
