Today in 1980, Lt. Cmdr. Brenda E. Robinson became the first African American woman to earn her Wings of Gold, becoming the first female African American Pilot in the U.S. Navy. With call sign "Raven," Brenda soared and attained many firsts for African American women in the Navy.
