Sustainability Tip #5: The agriculture and meat industry is one of the leading causes of environmental issues with greenhouse gas emissions, mass deforestation, and water pollution. Try to reduce your animal product intake with Meatless Mondays!

Thanks so much to the volunteers from Sustainable Carolina who joined us and ColumbiaWater this morning for a buffer planting at Earlewood Park. 🌿 We planted 100+ native plants along this tributary to Smith Branch, wrapping up a multi-year stream restoration project. 💧

Sustainability Tip: A great way to reduce your carbon footprint is to unplug devices in your home when not using them. Simply disconnecting electronics from outlets can reduce about 5-10% of electricity use! Cut off the connection and cut your electricity bill.

+ 1 way to be sustainable: Extend the life of your kitchen herbs by placing them in a glass of water in the fridge after cooking with them! This prevents wilting and will reduce your food waste by making them usable for more time and meals.

Do you want to start your own herb garden? Save an old egg carton to repurpose into a planter! For bigger plants, use the bottom of an empty milk container.

Make spring cleaning green by replacing single-use paper towels with old clothing and fabric pieces you might have planned to throw out. Having a stash for daily housekeeping will save you big bucks and space in the long run too!

🥵🥵🥵 Trying to beat the heat? Ceiling fans are great for moving cool air around the room and creating a nice breeze in the summer. If you raise your thermostat by only 2 degrees and use your ceiling fan to cool, you can lower your A/C costs by up to 14%.
