A study of 621 patients who underwent laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer found that 5.3% had major postoperative complications. Key risk factors included the Charlson comorbidities index and type of anastomosis. Major complications significantly reduced OS and DFS.

A study on distal pancreatectomy (DP) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of the tail (Pt-PDAC) suggests limited benefits from lymph node (LN) dissection along the hepatic artery. High metastasis rates were observed along the splenic artery (39%), but not the hepatic artery.

A study involving 185 esophageal cancer patients reveals that low preoperative zinc levels negatively impact survival and recurrence after NAC and surgery. Patients with low zinc had worse OS and higher recurrence rates, especially non-responders to chemotherapy.
