John A De Goes Colored functions (async/await) is the $10B mistake. Loom and Go got it right, everyone else complicated things. Google uses real threads w/ a userland scheduler hack they added to the Linux kernel. This is the way.

If null is a $1B mistake, then async is a $10B mistake.

Developers got stuck in 'synchronous is slow' when they should have embraced 'threads should be cheap'.

So instead they reinvented really awful 'cheap threads' without any understanding of what they were doing.

Go folks always argued that it doesn't suffer from the billion dollar mistake, but in reality things are much worse...that's why I always prefer null safe languages (like ).. Glad java as a platform is also moving in this direction with Valhalla. reddit.com/r/golang/s/v5C…
