Hot and dry conditions are making their mark in the central west with very light frosts causing damage with dry + mild frost being a 1+1=3 event. Rain last week was greatly appreciated and hopefully we’ll see these heads compensate!

Planting trials in full swing as summer crop starts going in the ground. These trials give up a great insight for new products coming to market and how they fit into our farming system. We thank our growers who are open to hosting these for us, we couldn’t do it without you!

Irrigated crops along the Murrumbidgee maturing quickly with some warmer weather and sunny days. Potential looks good with the limited water allocated to these crops.

🌱 Emergence is underway, with early-leaf cotton showing good colour and vigour where conditions have held. However, variability is apparent in some rows due to seed viability and soil conditions. 💡 We’re actively monitoring: •Soil crusting and dryback for re-watering triggers

Corn crops that are now 25 days post water up are approaching first in crop irrigation. The first irrigation is critical to maintain uniformity in the development and promote secondary root development. 🌽 🌱

Seed canola fields are approaching the end of the season. Males have been mulched out of fields and seed colour change is just starting to occur on the lower pods. Desiccation will be applied in 2-3 weeks time prior to harvest.

This cotton variety is Xtendflex 619. The seedling vigour of this variety has been a clear standout against other varieties. Establishment is king!

After some cooler weather thrips are really making their mark on crops. While late season thrips are great for predating on mites, early season they live and feed on seedling terminals. This coupled with cool weather means the crop cannot grow away from them. 👀 monitoring damage

🌱 Summit Ag Team Day A full crew on the ground today, walking trials, digging into new insect-management tools, swapping insights, and wrapping up with some hands-on assessments. These days are worth their weight in gold. Time together in the paddock sharpens our decision-making
