Super proud of the chapters in the new section of 2nd Ed. Encyclopedia of Fish Physiology on cool physiological adaptations that I had the honour of curating/editing - great job on this one, @science_schoen & team!

Never a dull moment in the Big Fish Lab. Yesterday evening, the team rescued a mature male tope shark that was stranded in a tidal pool. The shark was transported to the marina, swiftly worked up, and then released! Go team 🦈🦈

It seems like forever since I’ve been able to share a worm with you and I know Twitter loves a good worm! Hammerhead flatworm. Now, before you tell me to hit it or salt it or boil it, this is in its native country just being a flatworm.

As 2024 comes to an end, we look to 2025 and all the sharky research ahead! Here are a few of the species on our study list. Can you name them? Stay tuned for updates-we can’t wait to get started!

Had a great time last week sharing EI Medical Imaging technology with @georgiaaquarium. The ability to take ultrasound technology underwater is a game changer in advancing ocean science. Where will we use it next? Stay tuned…….

New study on reproduction in bull sharks. The ultrasound revealed this female to be pregnant. She is now swimming around with tags telling us where she goes and where she gives birth. Predator Ecology & Conservation Lab Sulikowski Lab FIU Marine Biology Pic:D.Dowd
