Simple answer from Frank would do here. We played two sitting midfielders,got a goal in front early. The perfect scenario on paper. Then both sitting midfielders were nowhere to be seen when Villa scored twice from where both midfielders should be.

In the cold light of day when we criticise Frank’s tactics look at his forward options. Ange had Kulu, Madders, Son & Solanke available. Realistically at this moment in time with the injuries not losing games is probably the first priority.

Gone under the radar with the general performance but when Archie Gray went into Bentancur’s position he was a lot more dynamic going forward. Him alongside Paulinho might be the way forward.

Whatever your opinion on Thomas Frank,the argument Ange had more injuries isn’t really true. Just seen this posted. Yes the football is poor but I’d rather dig out a 0-0 draw than get thrashed by 3 or 4 like last year.

I’m neither Thomas Frank in or out until he’s had a decent amount of time. However some of the arguments comparing him & Ange footballing philosophy are laughable. Ange only won the Europa League playing football similar to what Thomas Frank is currently playing.

United like us are bang average but the difference in quality up front is a chasm. Imagine those two up top with Kudos.

All the ‘lesser teams’ have improved so much over the last few years that playing in Europe is now a huge disadvantage unless you’ve got a massive quality squad. There’s surely never been so many teams losing to so called smaller clubs the weekend after playing in Europe.
