For a splash of red, Dahlias can be grown for tubers or seed to flower in the same year. Dwarf, single petalled cultivars such as 'Mignon' are an insect friendly alternative to traditional bedding plants. #PlatinumJubilee

Field poppies (Papaver rhoeas) and opium poppies (P. somniferum) can be sown direct in spring, providing a blaze of red. Combined with other cornfield annuals like cornflowers and ox-eye daisies, can create an informal ‘red, white and blue’ display 🌹 #red #PlatinumJubilee

I wonder if we all can have a pot, tub, border or basket with red , white and blue flowers by front doors or window sills this year?

Happy birthday Mr Shakespeare! We are proud to have been part of the celebrations today. In spite of our flag debacle. 🙄Back with a bang!

Great to see Vivienne & Dianne the long-standing volunteers who are the station adopters at #YardleyWood - busy getting their planters ready for a very special event. Meanwhile our Treasurer fraser pithie 🇺🇦 has been giving some TLC to our lovely Earlswood GLC planters along the line

This year, Stratford is growing 'Carpets for the Queen', to mark the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Many of the town's residents and schools have already signed up - find out more and join us here; stratfordinbloom.org.uk/community

Based on comments from local folk and passers-by, I've strimmed the edge of our meadow green a little wider and made a "ride" so that people can easily see and get to the wildflower circle. Surprisingly warm work for an hour, so now sitting down in the garden with a cuppa! ☕

#EnviroRight: Lightweight items like polystyrene cups, plastic straws, stirrers and cutlery are often carried by the wind into waterways. Please use on-street litter bins for these items or take your rubbish home with you #DontBeATosser

A number of our hanging baskets on High St are using #peatfree growing media this year. Looking good it is holding the moisture well.
