Universal childcare would: • save working class families money • improve child outcomes • lower healthcare and education costs • ease worker shortages • create jobs • boost local economies • reduce crime Someone ask JD Vance who he considers “normal people”?

Why continue to assassinate my father’s character, after he already died by assassination, with erroneous information and comparisons? Why even bring him up in this post about a conversation that possibly didn’t even happen? Why not do the initial research and share the truth

Untitled Goose Programme was produced by Chromosphere & Elizabeth! 🍉, and written by / starring davey swatpaz. The show itself never came to be, but we hope you like the short — you can watch the whole thing here: youtube.com/watch?v=MDnUa5…

With respect to Fred, I think this video of the presentation of the program plan to the city council at their meeting two weeks ago contains a great more detail and serious Q&A than a series of tweets from last year. I encourage everyone to watch it. stpaul.granicus.com/player/clip/49…

St. Paul voters will decide this November whether it's city government's job to find a limited, local solution to the national calamity that is child care In this AM's Axios Twin Cities newsletter: What voters need to know about the ballot measure ⤵️⤵️ axios.com/local/twin-cit…

One Ramsey County board member voted no, noting that's $1.2 million that is no longer available for existing county workers. She said UnitedHealthcare and HealthPartners just got a $1.2 million boost from public coffers for not figuring out their impasse on their own.

I dunno man. I care about little kids dying. I care about human rights. I care that billions of US tax dollars’ worth of weapons are carrying out unspeakable atrocities. I care enough for us to do better. Hope this bleak dunk attempt gets you whatever it is you’re going for.

Seems like the "No's" on the childcare ballot question boil down to "that should be done by a different level of government." But if that's already happening, and it's -not- sufficient, and families are -still- spending more on childcare than housing, shouldn't we close the gap?

I wonder how we'll feel about this when a new administration follows through on Project 2025's plan to kill Head Start. Will we try something similar, starting from scratch? Or rely on state/county help?

Here's the apples-to-apples comparison of columns from that same worksheet. Looks like the Library and SPFD benefit the most from the council amendments, which seem like good priorities. And, fwiw, SPPD is still getting a record increase.

UPDATE >> Council President Rebecca Noecker responded, telling me the mayor's letter is "alarmist": The new garbage hauler's "lack of planning is not our emergency," she said. Later, Carter's deputies held their own briefing explaining the risk to trash services… 🧵

Two months ago Jacob Frey ridiculed his opponent Omar Fateh about stance of vowing to have MPD arrest ICE agents who break the law. Now, four days after ICE murdered Renee Good, Frey still has done absolutely nothing other than use strong language and post strongly worded tweets.
