In #INC4 negotiations, some countries believe that the #PlasticsTreaty shouldn’t include trade provisions citing WTO Rules & existing multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs). But INCLUSION of TRADE PROVISIONS is ESSENTIAL in this treaty to end plastic pollution. 🧵

Throughout the #INC4 , we have been hearing some countries claiming that toxic chemicals ☠️ have “nothing to do with the #PlasticsTreaty , supposedly because they are regulated in other global agreements.” But is that true?

💪🏽 In final hours of #PlasticTreaty talks #INC4 , frontline, fenceline, Indigenous Peoples, civil society orgs & independent scientists are fighting desperately to ensure a #FullLifeCycle treaty that addresses production amidst endless attempts by polluters to obstruct progress.

A few govts are blocking progress on the #plasticstreaty but failure will belong to ALL.

With just hrs left Steven Guilbeault Andreas Bjelland Eriksen Marina Silva Under Secretary Jose W. Fernandez a successful treaty must:
