I'm unsure if I still have a job in 30 days or so, thanks to the redundancy consultation in the UK arm of Twilio. I'm interested in DevRel positions, particularly if you're looking for leaders or a senior DevRel with proven track record. DMs open. ❤️

Steps for a fun end of the work day: 1. Become aware of new JetBrains Fleet IDE. 2. Install public beta and launch it, tingling with excitement. 4. Gnome crashes, main display turns off, Linux goes crazy. 5. Try rebooting for 20 minutes. 5. Uninstall beta. 6. Turn off laptop.

After nearly two years of development, nerdctl (@contaiNERD CTL) finally reached v1.0.0 🤓 . A huge thanks to more than 80 contributors, 4,600 stargazers, and an uncountable number of users, for making this possible! 🎉 github.com/containerd/ner…

A lot of people seem to be missing the point that allowing employees ti pick an arrangement between remote/in-office/hybrid has nothing to do with productivity or logistics; it's about freedom, diversity and inclusion: let others do whatever THEY think is best for THEM.

This is just unreal. I struggle to believe anyone would want to work in such a dystopian environment other than for self-preservation. At this point, I want to see this ship sink, because it would be downright unfair and depressing if this turned out to be actually sustainable.

Here we have a unique show of some of the worst practices in engineering leadership: - criticizing his own people in public - micromanaging a specific problem at a tactical level - pretending to understand technical details This is just mind boggling.

Here is another one, the "reverse lead-by-example": asserting excessive expectations on his people with a passive reproach reminding them the lengths he's personally willing to go to; IOW, if he does that, it's implied everybody else should be willing to do the same, or else.

The past few years of my career have been quite a ride, and I wanted to prepare a conference talk about leadership for a long time. There is no better opportunity than phpday | 16-17 May 2024 | Verona CFP to crack that abstract and work a slide deck.

JFC, "conda" might be the worst package manager I have ever used, bar none. The package avalanche effect is even more cumbersome than npm; my dev env is now bloated my head is about to explode.

I must say I'm very impressed with the current level of integration between dev tools like JetBrains Fleet, Docker and WSL2. Seems like Windows is very effectively playing catch-up with Linux as a development platform. It's not perfect and it's still quirky, but decent overall.

This is a very powerful leadership concept I've been applying a lot, lately: over-protecting people from failures is unsustainable; let the pain of few be felt by all, let everyone learn from the legacy of mistakes we all need to cope with. Well deserved HN first page.

I finally managed to make my Yubikey work on WSL2 (which doesn't have USB passthrough) with Gpg4win, via socat relay of Unix sockets to Windows named pipes, both for GPG and SSH. This. Was. Not. Easy. Now good night, and good luck.

Dear LEGO my whole #MISB set collection has been lost due to a flood that devastated the city of #Faenza where I'm living, and the whole Emilia-Romagna region. /1

I started watching Tom Segura AKA Mr. Ladybug Sledgehammer but then the opening sequence made me want to listen to Peter Gabriel, now I'm 20 minutes into a prog rock playlist, and next I'll probably want to listen the entire Emerson, Lake and Palmer discography. Sorry Tom, another time.
