This week, Year 4 had a visit from an expert from the National Marine Aquarium! We found out about the significance of Plymouth Sound's national marine park and were told about an exciting project that we will be taking part in throughout the year! 🐟

The children in Year 1 have shown some amazing mathematical skills showing how to count forwards and backwards within 20.

In Year 1 we have been looking at spirals in nature focusing mainly on shells. The wonderful children showed real talent carefully creating some of their own, inspired by the work of Charles Dessalines.

Olympus class have had a wonderful morning of writing! We have used adverbials to make sure our writing is cohesive and expanded noun phrases to add detail. Well done Olympus!

Year 6 have had a fantastic time being archaeologists this afternoon. We identified the artefacts from a ancient tomb and decided they must have belonged to the great Shang warrior Lady Fu Hao!

This week Reception have learned all about seasonal changes. We sorted leaves into different colour groups, then we made a special crown and enjoyed working as a team to shake the leaves on the parachute!

Year 5 enjoyed a visit from Simon from Brickmania who shared his endless knowledge about the Battle of Britain. We loved hearing about the battle and seeing the brick models of a hurricane fighter, a bomber plane and a Sherman tank.

Year 4 have been working hard at creating a dance in PE this week. Inspired by some futuristic music, the children have choreographed their own movements while acting as broken toys!

On Friday, 2 Y5/6 teams represented St Matthews in a quicksticks hockey tournament. We were so impressed by their resilience and determination, and were really pleased to find out that the black team won the tournament today - congratulations! #letyourlightshine 🏑🏅
