Action some try and fantastic racing as Hank McGregor and Wayne Jacobs take Day 1 of the A. STIHL AG & Co. KG Umko 2021.

Due to extreme river levels,Day 2 of the Umko has been shortened to a safe section of the river, 8km from Nyala Pans to Josephine’s.

Water at 2.1m yesterday afternoon with good rain forecast for the next 3 days. Expect great water for the weekend.

Current Umko river level at 3m with high water mark at 4m!!! No rain forecast so river looks likely to be around 2m for Sunday’s race.

Level 2.2m at Hella Hella

It’s about 15cm lower than same time last week. If the forecast is correct and no more rain falls then expect 2.2m for day 1 and 2m for day 2. The water will also be clean. These are probably the best conditions for paddling the Umko Marathon. Fast , fun and clean.
