Today, I was fortunate to interview the midfield general from Everton’s successful team of the ‘80’s. A class act on and off the pitch. Thanks Reidy. This interview will be added to a future volume of For the boys in the royal blue jersey. I’m raising funds for the EFPF.

Tommy Best was Chester's 1st black player. He played his last game for them on this day in 1948 before signing for Cardiff for £7,000, a record for Chester. He was 1st black player for Cardiff, QPR and Hereford where he died in 2018 aged 97. Chester City LFC Cardiff City FC QPR FC

I went to pay my respects at the funeral of a legendary sports commentator. His voice was familiar in the north west during the late 1960’s- mid 1970’s with the Friday night slot KICK OFF, not forgetting the Sunday afternoon KICK OFF match. A lovely tribute from John Motson too.
