NEW at SCOTUS: two emergency docket wins for Trump. One gives DOGE access to Social Security files. The second halts a FOIA request for info into DOGE’s operations for now. The three Dem appointees dissent in each.

"Nobody’s going to spit on our police officers," says Trump, who four months ago pardoned people who beat police officers with pipes, flagpoles, baseball bats and 2-by-4s at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Why would SCOTUS record justices reading opinions & not release the audio till months later? There's no good reason. A year ago I signed a letter, along w other SCOTUS journalists, asking for livestreamed announcements. No response. We released the letter to the public today.

SCOTUS will be releasing more decisions next Wednesday, June 18th. (It's closed the next day for Juneteenth.) Also, this is the first week in a while with no emergency applications from the Trump administration (though I suppose the day is young).

SCOTUS's conservative majority is risking a chaotic patchwork citizenship policy with today's ruling in Trump v CASA. As I write in The Economist even if that does not come to pass, Trump will now see smoother sailing for other parts of his agenda economist.com/united-states/…
