To those who had the bad-luck to witness "Deputy" PMQs in the House of Commons today: if these two are the second best political talents in Britain the country is in even more trouble than we thought...

Thanks Jamie Oliver. I agree this is a really important issue and I look forward to working with you to help kids in the North East to thrive. As North East Mayor, I’ll make sure that our children are supported to reach their potential. #FreeSchoolMeals

Rightly pointing out the flaws in a Labour policy and getting to the detail through the spin. Another reason we need you as North East Mayor.

The best thing about hustings is people get to see their politicians for real. Not through glossy ads. That’s why I’ve attended every hustings. I’ve held dozens of public meetings across the region, and I’ve done dozens of events as Mayor for the past five years. Anyone can

As North East Mayor, I want to make real practical differences to people’s lives. A better transport system, local projects that improve their communities, making sure I put money in their pockets rather than taking it in council tax. These are the things that will really make a

It appears that Labour’s promise to open the Leamside Line has gone ‘off the rails’. Ignoring regional politicians of all parties. There is broad support for reopening this key rail route. What we need is a mayor that is adept at negotiating with government, whatever colour it

'Thanks to Mick Lynch of the @RMTUnion for his continued support. On 2nd May, vote for a Mayor with the vision to transform the North East and the experience to make it happen.

The Establishment is finally waking up to how tired people are of a two party system that never seems to benefit them. In the North East, there is an alternative. We’re now only 2% behind in the polls and that’s closing fast. 👉labourlist.org/2024/05/jamie-…

I’ve investigated this NEMCA decision. I’ve now received a reply saying that NEMCA would stick with its decision and the The WEA will lose its grant funded status. If I’m re-elected on 2nd May as North East Mayor, I will review this immediately.

As a longstanding WEA branch officer and Regional Local Advisory Panel Member I can confirm you have been a strong ally of an organisation built by workers to enable and empower them to educate themselves, your solidarity is welcome. Labour led decision to defund is a poor one.

Being independent means I can put the people of the North East ahead of any Westminster party line. People across the board say they’re voting for me. Their reasons vary. Some are inspired by my policies. Some are voting tactically. Many like my record in office, working

This is the first Labour govt in history to increase child poverty. There’s an alternative: properly taxing multinational corporations & those with assets over £10 million. Ending disastrous privatisation of energy, water, rail and healthcare. Sign the Dignity Declaration

Under a Labour government, a Labour council, the pay of members of a Labour-affiliated union is cut leading to Birmingham residents, many of them traditional Labour voters living in unacceptable conditions. This is change all right, change for the worse.
